Soccer gal9/17/2008 ShareI love soccer inside and out having played for my high school and university teams way back when. So when my son's soccer team asked me to do their soccer photos again this year, I could hardly turn them down. This beauty is a new player on my son's team and I just fell in love with this image. She's a real go-getter on the field too - full of spunk.

A new crop9/11/2008 ShareWell, I've had a series of sessions I haven't been able to share, either because they were adoption sessions or due to job security issues with the client. So since I feel like I've been neglecting my blog, and decided to share an image that is a new crop to an image I captured in April. I absolutely love this new crop and the emotion caught within it.

Denver colors9/3/2008 ShareHere on the Front Range of Colorado we are not typically treated to really nice sunsets because the mountains to the west block the sunset colors of the horizon. But occasionally we get some nice reflections on the clouds. Look at what I was treated to as I left Target last week when I was down in the city.

Colorado Heart Gallery8/27/2008 ShareI wish I could show some images from my sessions during these last two weeks but I'm not allowed to because these pictures are for something very special - the Colorado Heart Gallery. This exhibit features photographs of the children in Colorado who have been waiting the longest for an adoptive family. Last week I photographed a 9 year old girl and today I will photograph her 11 year old brother. I truly hope these pictures will help these children find their forever home. Success8/15/2008 ShareThis family gave me a call because their last try with a studio photographer ended in a very unhappy 2 year old. So we tried an outdoor session and all was well. Both boys were cheerful and had a good time. We had a moment of cloud cover and wandered out to the meadow for some fun.
This one ranks very high in my list of favorite sibling portraits.
I had to show this one. If this isn't the look of true love, I don't know what is. :-)

Senior Portraits Take 28/12/2008 ShareHere's some of the boy senior portraits I mentioned in my earlier post. As I expected, the session was very different than my senior girl session last week. But it went well and was fun for me. He brought along a very old jeep that he had rebuilt himself which was just very cool to photograph.

Senior Pictures8/8/2008 ShareI often have inquiries asking whether I do senior pictures. Well I haven't so far. But this year, I decided to take a couple senior sessions to see how I liked it. This was my first and it was fun! My next session will be a senior boy so stay tuned. We spent lots of time outside in the nearby open space park and then went inside for some studio shots. There were so many good ones that I had trouble narrowing down the selection for this blog entry.
She comes from a bicycling family and has ridden Ride the Rockies many times, the first time as a toddler in a trailer.
She is an excellent singer but we couldn't really think of a good way to depict that. So I asked her to bring along the violin that she used to play so I could take some pictures of her with the violin. (I just love the look of violins!)
This one is of my assistant (her sister) helping me to fulfill my dream of photographing a violin player playing alone in a field.

Sadness8/1/2008 ShareThis doesn't relate at all to photography but I just want to publicly offer my thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families, and the entire congregation of the Knoxville UU church which had the shootings last Sunday. This incident is particularly close to me since my brother and his children and my sister and her children are all members of the church at which the shootings occurred. Add or View Comments(0) | |
Happy happy girl7/24/2008 ShareThis little lady had lots of smiles and eye contact for me. What a fun session! She just turned one last month so her Mom and Dad celebrated with a combo session.

Out of the office (but still taking pictures)7/19/2008 ShareI've been out of the office quite a bit recently, but still enjoy taking pictures whenever I can. We recently visited the Outer Banks of NC and San Diego, CA. Here's some pics from California. I absolutely love silhouette images and seek them out whenever I can. This first one cracks me up because it looks like little pixies are running around the feet of my family.
This beauty is a daughter of a friend. She's a real joy.

Summer afternoons7/1/2008 ShareI have to say the weather for this session was one of the nicest I've had all year. Often my sessions are scheduled for chilly mornings to work with the energy levels of young children. But these two kids were old enough to have an afternoon session and it was oh so pleasantly warm in the park! The kids did great inside and out.
I frequent (ok... that's an understatement) an online forum for professional children's photographers, and some of the more off-the-wall photographers are using wide-angle lenses more and more. It's a cool effect as long as it's used correctly. So now that I have my new L class zoom lens, I've been having a little fun myself with wide-angles.
